Military historiography, how describe the war and the military. „Mars invited for learning”
Summary:
Position historian is extremely important, because it gives a picture of the past described. The consequence of such a statement is a huge responsibility historian for the created image of everything what happened in the past. In contrast, the discussion should deal with historical and military research and how to treat the effect of this work means military historiography, the problem still alive and not quite capable of being solved. The methods of writing history is as a methodology. Practically, we know that it must be meaningful control but run away from subordination to her.

Medieval and modern firearms – the analysis of practical aspects
Summary:
Main objective of our research was to provide reliable data about the basic technical properties of the earliest black powder hand guns and rifles, and to bring to light the importance of this type of researches. After shooting 350 times with a blowpipe, handgun, arqueboise and a match gun, on the distance of 20, 30 and 40 meters, we came to conclusion, that this types of weapon are more accurate that we thought – firing on the distance up to 50 meters was propably almost everytime deadly. Also we must notice the lenght of reloading time – quick process of loading contradict common opinions about its very long time. The research was also concluded in accordance of human skills in using weapons and in the presence of matchlock, or it absence.

The siege of Poznań (1716) in Polish historiography
Summary:
The article presents works written from the 19th to the 21st concerning one of the events in the time of the Tarnogród Confederation (in the years 1715-1716), namely the capture of Poznań by the troops led by deputy hetman (regimentarz) Chryzostom Gniazdowski. His cavalry troops besieged and seized the city after a night assault on 23rd/24th July 1716.

Summary: The image of the Russian Army soldier from the World War I period in selected diaries, memoirs and reminiscences of the Polish Legions’ soldiers. A contribution to the history of the Great War
Summary: During World War I the members of the Polish Legions fought against soldiers from different formations of the Russian Army, primarily against infantry and cavalry, including the Cossack cavalry formations. Many of them left quite detailed diaries or memoirs or reminiscences written down years later, where numerous descriptions and evaluations of the opponent of that time are to be found. The dominant subject is the assessment of the Russian soldiers’ conduct in the battlefield and the manner they waged warfare, as well as their attitude towards the defeated opponent, especially to the Legionnaires who had been taken captive. They also contain descriptions of various acts of destruction and plundering committed by the Russians on the territories of Galicia they were seizing, as well as in other parts of contemporary Austro-Hungarian monarchy. Moreover, one can find descriptions of Russian captives, and occasionally even of Poles serving in the Tsarist army. Therefore, the aim of the following article is to present the image of an infantry and cavalry soldier of the Russian Army in the years 1914-1917, emerging after the analysis of diaries, memoirs and recollections left by the combatants of the Polish Legions.

Miscellanea in the pages of Przegląd Historyczno-Wojskowy in the years 1929-1938
Summary: Przegląd Historyczno-Wojskowy (Historical and Military Review),edited by Otton Laskowski, was a significant medium in the whole of historical-military studies in the Second Republic of Poland (interwar Poland). It was entirely devoted to the history of Polish and world military affairs. It was also an important stage in the development of Polish military historiography. It influenced the increase in the interest with military history, enlarged the circle of researchers and contributed to the improving the craft of a military historian, especially the source materials published in the “Miscellanea” section, which have been analysed.

War in the Mediterranean Sea (1939-1945) in Polish military historiography – part 1 – selective bibliography
Summary:
The article will consist of two parts. In the first part, a selective bibliography will be presented, and in the second part it will be thoroughly and multilaterally analysed. It is expected to give a possibly the most accurate picture of the state of the research in Polish military historiography concerning the history of war on the Mediterranean Sea, and is aimed at demonstrating that Polish military historiography lacks a synthesis of World War II in the Mediterranean Sea.

Historical-military issues in the pages of Rocznik Gdański in the years 1927-2006

Summary: This article analyses texts of military history which can be found in “Rocznik Gdański”. A review of research was limited to 66 volumes from 1927-2006 years. The deliberations includes not only historical articles but also other texts from military history for example source materials and critiques of military studies. This review has been divided into three parts. The last part recapitulated considerations about military history in Gdańsk’s magazine. There was noticed that “Rocznik Gdański” is very important periodical to study pomeranian military history.
